This years Judges were Gary Hicken and judge in training David Hyatt. Judges are not able to enter the show hall before the actual start
of the show. There were many birds to judge over 243 at this show and it takes an experienced judge to be fair yet keep things moving
along. There are four classes of competition Junior, Novice, Intermediate, and Champion in every variety of bird. To advance to the
next level you need to win your division three times. This show Paul Orndorff advanced to the Intermediate level.
At times Gary would stop judging and face the audience to explain why he placed one bird over another. You could see who had birds
on the bench as they would lean in to hear what the judge had to say. Sometimes exhibitors become tense and can get upset however it
something you rarely see. The majority of exhibitors are friendly, remembering that we are seeing one judges opinion.
At the end of the show winners are announced and congratulated, then everyone has time to go up to the top bench and see the birds up
close.
The hosts of the show often invite everyone to a special dinner where you can catchup one more time before people head home.
Some hang out at the hotel lounge where everyone stays into the late morning hours. It's always a blast!
